The EFQM philosophy to describe the Business Excellence Model creates a template for system integration:

'Excellent results with respect to Performance, Customers, People and Society are achieved through Leadership driving Policy and Strategy that is delivered through People, Partnerships and Resources, and Processes'.

From this template an organisation can identify a start point to adopt Business Excellence. Although not compulsory, one way to identify an organisation's start point is to use the Business Excellence Diagnostic© a unique A3 sized self assessment tool able to visually link together areas for improvement.
